A Tribute to our Founder

tribute_-webDuring the Kids of Honor holiday gathering, the board of directors surprised our founder with a video tribute...  and a four foot Orange Chicken! Thanks to Paula Morris for all her hard work and dedication. In 2013, our chicken "Wish Upon a Star" has a new permanent home at Salisbury University in the atrium of the Perdue School of Business.  Another chicken from FeatherFest, "Chicken Noodle Soup" shares the atrium, flanking the entrance. We'll post photos once they arrive in their new home.

Dr. Dave Nagy presents an award and photos to Paula and her husband Jim.

Summer Fun for our Families

Sharks_-WebCombine a bus ride with the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Cneter with a nature trail and a windy beach day and you'll get the kind fo fun activity Kids of Honor and their families shared this summer!.

Va_Beach_-WebTogether we touched sharks, played on the beach, watched sea turtles swim and scared one another with snakes and other 'creepy' wildlife. If you want to see more photos from the trip, click here to

Thanks for helping us keep OUR kids in School!

Fall Grants
Wicomico Partnership for Families and Children supports the expansion of Kids of Honor's YEAH program. In September, we received $34,500! Thank you Wicomico County!
Also this fall, a $5,000 grant from the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore offsets our Connection Club activities for the year. Thanks to CFES, our families play, serve and learn together.

Face Painting and Fireworks

FireworkslizDawn, Reva, Corey and Diane hosted an arts & crafts table for youth attending the fireworks celebration at Salisbury University on July 4th.  In addition to distributing lots of Kids of Honor brochures, interested parents and students learned more about our programs.

Hooray for YEAH!

yeahkids1-_webyeahkids2_--_webReport cards for the first marking term indicate that our students rock! Our high school club called YEAH (Youth Excelling in Academics with Honor) have a GPA of 3.0! More than half of our students are taking Honors and/or Advanced Placement classes! They challenge themselves each year by selecting courses that require them to work harder.

Super Seniors lead by example. Having a group average of 3.6 they are showing their peers it is okay to be smart.

Kids of Honor's Fantastic Freshmen hit the ground running to catch their peers with an average of 3.0!

Way to go! Our students are truly Youth Excelling in Academics with Honors (YEAH) and we congratulate them on excellent markings for this first term.

Chili Throw Down raises $1200+

chili_winnersThanks to Diane & Terry Allen for hosting and Melanie Perreault for coordinating our Second Annual Chili Throw Down!

It was a great evening of Chili, Cornbread, tally sheets, silent auctions, friends and so many rediculous jokes.

Dawn Mills, Executive Director, helped the guests understand the impact of Kids of Honor® on our community.

some_ChiliMuch whining and gnashing of teeth occurred when the judges returned with the rankings that placed Clifton Griffin at the top of the Chili competition and Melanie in third place.

Dennis Pataniczek went home with the Mickey Mouse ribbon for first place in the Cornbread Competition.

The THROW DOWN champions (photo above) are Michele Lovegrove-Second, Clifton Griffin-First, Bob Wood-Special prize for Gassiest, Melanie Perreault-Third (and not the least bit happy about her ranking!)

WinnersThanks to everyone involved!

We'll use the money to keep Kids in School.

Melanie issued the following challenge "You go home and practice for next year!"
